The Division of Community Health, Recreation and Rehabilitation Services at the University of Maine at Farmington, in collaboration with the Town of Farmington and the High Peaks Alliance, has been hard at work reimagining the Prescott Field Multi-Use Trail System to increase visibility and physical accessibility of nature-based engagement and environmental education activities for all community members.
These all-season trails are currently so transcendent because of the close proximity of activities such as walking, biking, and prospective formal and informal nature-based educational experiences to town and parking areas. Bird watching, photography, and creative expression (writing, drawing, painting, etc.) are also activities that currently take place on our trails. As the seasons change, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing become our outdoor recreational focus.
Although this project is a work in progress, we encourage all community members to get out and enjoy the Prescott trail system. We only ask that you respect the area and leave no trace (or carry out everything you take into the space). For safety purposes, we do not allow public snowmobiling on our trails at this time.
