The student will receive an electronic bill to their maine.edu email. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain authorization from the employer or third-party sponsor (e.g. purchase order/authorization form) which indicates how much will be paid on the student’s behalf. The student mails the authorization form, copy of the statement and payment (if any due) to the University of Maine at Farmington by the payment due date. If these items are received by the payment due date shown on the statement, no late fee will be assessed.
Please read the following tips to ensure things work smoothly.
- Know how much your employer/sponsor will pay. This is very important since not all employers pay the full amount of a course. Some will pay 100%, but others will pay tuition only, or even just a percentage of the tuition and no fees.
- When you receive a bill from UMF, provide this information to your employer/sponsor immediately.
- Complete any necessary paperwork with your employer/sponsor to request funding. Purchase Orders or payments not received by the billing due date could result in monthly late fees on your account.
- Activate your maine.edu email and check emails regularly. All bills will only be sent by email and you will not receive a paper bill in the mail.
- Once your email is activated, you will then have access to MaineStreet. You can view your account information in MaineStreet, and there is also a link to Touchnet where you can print a PDF of your bill if your employer needs one. You can also pay online from here. (MaineStreet>Classic Student Center>View My Bill) Click here for step-by-step instructions for printing your invoice.
- Be sure to pay any remaining balance on your account by the billing due date to avoid monthly late fees from being assessed.
- Purchase Orders or authorization letters can be faxed to UMF at (207)778-7555, or emailed to umfbus@maine.edu.
