After the Financial Aid Office has received FAFSA information from the Federal Processor and has gone through any corrections or verification process (if required), we will calculate a financial aid package.  Students will receive a Financial Aid Notification that explains what information was used as the basis of the package, and the aid amount for which the student is eligible.

Be advised that changes that occur as a result of the verification or appeal process can change aid eligibility.  If a change does occur for verification or any other reason, the student will receive email notification (sent to the maine.edu email address) of the change and be urged to check MaineStreet for details.

Students will receive a hard copy of the first financial aid notification.  The letter will give instructions on how to accept/decline the financial aid package on MaineStreet.

Financial aid is awarded yearly based on new FAFSA information each year.  As a result, the financial aid package can change from year to year and will be based on the new income information of the current FAFSA.

The only renewable types of financial aid are the merit scholarships awarded by the Admissions Office at the time of acceptance.  A student must meet all renewal criteria and remain enrolled full-time.  These scholarships are also available for a limited number of semesters.  See your original merit award letter for details.
