New Catalog Action Items

We are excited to announce the first significant update to the University of Maine System Libraries (UMSL) catalog and search experience since 1988, released on June 12, 2024. This has modernized how we interact with library resources, offering a more intuitive and efficient platform for discovering information.

The new system is LibrarySearch, an enhanced interface that provides a seamless and streamlined experience, empowering patrons to navigate through the extensive collection of resources with ease.

The transition to LibrarySearch marks a significant milestone for UMSL. The changes are designed to enhance accessibility and efficiency, ultimately enriching the research process for all library patrons. Throughout the implementation process, users are encouraged to exercise patience as adjustments are made to optimize the new system.

For more information and updates, please visit the UMSL ILS Transition Guide. Thanks to our colleagues at the University of Maine System Libraries and Fogler Library for the creation of these resources.

MaineCat/ILL Pause

In addition to the transition to a new library platform, negotiations at the state level for a library van delivery service contract have been prolonged, leading to a gap in coverage. All requests for materials in other Maine libraries (including other UMS libraries) have been temporarily suspended. We hope they will be up and running again soon, but the contract negotiations need to run their course.

We apologize for the abrupt nature of this announcement. The state had hoped to avoid this, but that has proved impossible. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. If you would like more details regarding this, please visit the FAQ that further explains this situation: Van Delivery FAQ (https://maine-msl.libguides.com/c.php?g=1393867&p=10309221
