Participants in the Graduate Certificate program will explore the research supporting effective inclusive systems, collaborate with school professionals, students and families to support inclusion and student/family engagement. Participants will also develop expertise in designing inclusive lesson plans using universal design, as well as multi-tiered levels of evidence-based support in academic disciplines.
Courses may be offered either completely online or using a blended format, with a combination of face-to-face class meetings and online study.
Completion of this certificate requires five courses:
- SED 598 Inclusive Education Reform: a Social Justice Approach to School and Systemwide Reform
- SED 551 Advanced Intervention Methods for Inclusive Settings
- SED 599 Coaching for Inclusive Education
- EDU 579 Implementing Systems of Student Support
And one of the following elective courses
- SED 508 Inclusive and Positive Supports for Students with Challenging Behaviors
- SED 504 Collaborative Partnerships Among Individuals with Disabilities, Families, and Professionals
- SED 505 Universal Design for Learning
- SED 519 Assistive Technology and Access to Inclusive Settings
- SED 514 Literacy Development for All Students
- SED 517 Professional Ethics, Cultural Competence, and Evidence-Based Practices in Early Intervention and Early Childhood Special Education
- SED 515 Early Intervention: Working with Infants and Toddlers with Disabilities and Their Families
