The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma is a rigorous pre-college course of study culminating in examinations. Designed for a highly motivated and academically gifted secondary school student, the IB is designed to allow its graduates to fulfill the requirements of the various national systems of education.
Please note, the IB is based on the pattern of no single country. Instead, it provides students of diverse linguistic, cultural and economic backgrounds with the intellectual, social and critical perspectives necessary for adult life and work.
The University of Maine at Farmington will award credit for the higher level IB examinations for which you earn scores of 5 or higher on of a scale of 1 to 7.
Credit will be awarded for those University of Maine at Farmington courses deemed to be equivalent by the appropriate UMF departments, with a minimum of 3 credits and a maximum of 8 credits per examination.
