Transfer ME — You may be guaranteed admission to UMF!

The new Transfer ME agreement between the UMaine System and Maine Community College System will guarantee admission to UMF for students in many Maine Community College degree programs.

Transfer ME means:

  • No application
  • No application fees
  • No test score submissions
  • No recommendation letters or transcripts
  • No admissions essays

The Transfer ME program is open to students pursuing degrees in dozens of fields – ranging from Early Childhood Education, Accounting to Biology and more – once they have completed their Associate’s degree.

Reverse Credit Transfer Option

The University of Maine System, which includes UMF, and Maine Community College System also have a Reverse Credit Transfer agreement that allows you to earn an Associate’s degree or Certificate at your Community College by combining credits from a UMaine System University with credits you previously earned from your Community College.

This means you can transfer to UMF before completing your Maine Community College Associate’s degree or Certificate — your UMF credits will satisfy your Associate’s degree or Certificate requirements.

Just complete and submit the Reverse Credit Transfer Form (pdf)

Contact Isaac Seigle, below, for more information or assistance filling out the form.

Best of all, this new scholarship is renewable for 1 year, 2 years, or 3 years — up to 6 consecutive semesters at UMF.

UMF Named a 2024 “Most Transfer-friendly College in the Nation”
— Phi Theta Kappa, the official honor society for community colleges

2024 Transfer Accolade logo

UMF is recognized as one of the most transfer-friendly colleges in the nation by Phi Theta Kappa, the official honor society for community colleges. Farmington is named to the honor society’s 2024 Transfer Honor Roll for excellence in the development and support of innovative pathways that help community college students easily transfer to the four-year university.

Phi Theta Kappa honor society recognizes the academic achievement of students at associate degree-granting colleges.

It is comprised of more than 4.3 million members and nearly 1,300 chapters in 11 countries, with approximately 240,000 active members in the nation’s colleges.

We love Transfer students and enroll lots of you.

Over the years, we’ve found Transfer students from Maine’s Community Colleges to be among our best and brightest students — many making our Dean’s List, taking on-campus leadership roles, playing on our sports teams, student-teaching in our local schools, performing on our stages — making our University an even stronger community. You lend perspectives, experiences, and ideas we value.

Please reach out to us for details and assistance in transferring from your community college to the University of Maine at Farmington. You can do this!
