Bio | Brad Dearden is Associate Professor of Geography and Environmental Planning at the University of Maine at Farmington, with interests in urban geography, population and sustainability in the developing world. His regional specializations are in East Asia and Latin America. His current research centers on spaces of inequality in urban areas under globalization dynamics. Recent research includes incidence and causes of female suicide in Nepal’s Himalaya, and documenting impacts on urban neighborhoods from economic transition in Asia and Latin America. Brad maintains affiliations with the International and Global Studies program at the University of Maine Farmington, as well as the American Association of Geographers and the New England-St. Lawrence Valley Geographical Society. He also runs a May-term travel course to Nepal. Degrees
