Colby Pomeroy from Winslow isn’t your typical college graduate. That’s because as the end of his junior year approaches, he will be advancing to Logan University in St. Louis, Missouri, to complete the second part of his 3+3 pre-professional program where he will ultimately earn his doctor of chiropractic degree.
“Farmington’s small school environment has been a great fit for me and helped me connect with my professors. You’re more than a number here,” said Pomeroy.
UMF’s dual-degree pre-chiropractic program with Logan makes it possible for qualified students to earn both a B.A. at UMF and a D.C. degree at Logan in six years total—one year less than the traditional academic study.
Pomeroy served a paid internship with HealthQuest Chiropractic in Farmington since the beginning of his sophomore year and still found time for his studies and coaching his high school football team. He also excelled in his regular academic classes and received the 2022-23 Harvey Aft Excellence in Chemistry Award.
“Farmington’s small school environment has been a great fit for me and helped me connect with my professors. You’re more than a number here,” said Pomeroy. “That close connection has kept me on the right track academically while also helping me find time for my internship, coaching interests and having fun with a core group of friends.”
Pomeroy is looking forward to continuing his education at Logan and hopes to return to Maine after his doctoral studies to practice as a licensed chiropractor.
In addition to pre-chiropractic, UMF pre-professional programs include various pre-med tracks, pre-law and pre-MBA.
